Job Description
**About Gurucul**
-----------------
Some of the hardest risks to catch come from people and systems that already have access. They use real credentials, they move slowly, and no single step looks alarming. Gurucul was built for that problem. Since 2010 we’ve modeled how users and entities behave, helped pioneer UEBA, and earned a place as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for SIEM. Today that work runs across Next\-Gen SIEM, Insider Risk Management, and AI SOC Analyst, and as of September 2026, Gurucul AI Risk and Response, for the AI agents now working alongside people.
**Role Summary**
----------------
You’ll lead Gurucul Insider Risk Management and Gurucul AI Risk and Response, growing an established product while setting the direction for one that has just reached the market. You’ll own strategy and the roadmaps for both, understand why customers buy and where alternatives fall short, and test ideas with users before development.
This is a high\-visibility, senior individual contributor role reporting directly to our VP of Product Management. You’ll set priorities with Product leadership, work closely with Engineering, Research, UX, and Product Marketing, and represent Gurucul with customers, industry analysts, and public audiences.
### **Why join this team**
* Start from a strong base. Build on enterprise customers, more than a decade of behavioral analytics, and a top\-tier product and engineering organization.
* Tackle difficult security problems. Help teams manage emergent autonomous AI alongside human risk.
* Stay close to the work. Learn directly from practitioners and experts; stay hands\-on at each stage of development; see your decisions drive real\-world outcomes.
* Build a public voice. Speak with analysts and industry audiences alongside Product Marketing and leadership.
**Key Responsibilities:**
-------------------------
### **Product strategy and business ownership**
* Set target customers, priority problems, differentiation, and investment priorities for both products. Understand how dedicated Insider Risk teams and SOC teams evaluate solutions and secure funding.
* Assess demand and competitive alternatives, including existing tools and customers’ own approaches. Turn research, win and loss analysis, and analyst feedback into product decisions.
* Build business cases that weigh revenue potential and customer value against development effort, delivery cost, and risk. Explain what we will pursue, defer, or stop.
* Partner with Product Marketing, Sales, and Finance on pricing, packaging, standalone and bundled offers, messaging, content and go\-to\-market plans. Measure adoption, time to value, and investigation effectiveness, and assess retention, expansion, and win rate together.
### **Product discovery and validation**
* Interview buyers and practitioners and observe their work. Identify unmet needs, workarounds, and buying triggers. Understand the roles of Security, HR, Legal, Privacy, and AI teams, and separate market needs from individual account requests.
* Test hypotheses with UX, Engineering, and design partners before substantial development. Use prototypes and usability tests to validate customer value, usability, technical feasibility, and willingness to pay.
* Set pilot and evaluation criteria for adoption, workflow improvement, detection quality, and commercial value. Use evidence to refine priorities or stop ideas, and check customer outcomes after launch.
### **Engineering partnership and delivery**
* Turn customer problems into requirements, workflows, user stories, and acceptance criteria with Engineering, Research, and UX. Define investigation evidence needs and response controls. Own product priorities and constraints; Engineering owns architecture and implementation.
* Keep releases focused, with clear scope, dependencies, and readiness criteria. Resolve tradeoffs among customer commitments, technical debt, quality, and new capabilities. Validate reliability, usability, and performance in customer environments.
* Translate validated customer problems into clear requirements, workflows, and user stories with testable acceptance criteria. Define investigation evidence needs and response controls, and refine requirements as the team learns.
* Partner with Engineering and Product Owners on backlog refinement, sprint planning, and sprint reviews. Clarify requirements, resolve dependencies, and make scope and priority tradeoffs. Review demos and test results, provide timely feedback, and agree on release readiness.
* Shape AI risk capabilities around changing agent behavior, human and non\-human identities, permissions, and telemetry gaps. Distinguish what the product can observe, infer, detect, and act on. Build privacy, explainability, access controls, auditability, and human approval into requirements.
### **Market representation and commercial execution**
* Represent Gurucul in analyst briefings, customer advisory discussions, webinars, and conferences. Demonstrate capabilities, explain product direction, and answer questions from executive and technical audiences.
* Partner with Product Marketing on positioning, launches, competitive guidance, and sales enablement, supported by product evidence. Join strategic evaluations and roadmap discussions, bring feedback into decisions, and set clear delivery expectations.
**Required Qualifications**
---------------------------
* 8\+ years of product management or equivalent product leadership experience, including 3\+ years in enterprise cybersecurity, insider risk, data protection, compliance, or a related security product domain.
* Commercial judgment across market opportunity, buyers, competition, investment, and pricing or packaging, with examples of decisions that improved adoption or business results.
* A record of discovery and validation through interviews, hypothesis testing, prototypes, and pilots. You can explain how evidence changed your roadmap and how you measured results.
* Practical understanding of AI security risks, including sensitive\-data exposure, permissions, non\-human identities, and misuse or compromise. Passion in this area.
* Technical fluency in integrations, analytics, APIs, and enterprise workflows. Ability to write clear requirements and work through product tradeoffs with Engineering.
* Strong customer presentation, communication and demonstration skills. Ability and willingness to speak with analysts and public audiences, explain complex ideas clearly, and answer challenging questions.
* Ability to earn support across cross\-functional teams and leadership, resolve disagreements using evidence, and lead a product from an unclear problem through delivery.
**Preferred Qualifications (Nice\-to\-Have)**
---------------------------------------------
* Direct IRM product or program experience with Security, HR, Legal, and Privacy stakeholders.
* Experience delivering AI security or agent security products, or AI\-assisted investigation workflows with appropriate controls.
* Familiarity with security telemetry, identity systems, AI\-platform integrations, and MITRE ATT\&CK, MITRE ATLAS, or OWASP guidance for AI applications.
* Experience launching or expanding products at a smaller or growing enterprise software company.
* Experience leading analyst briefings or speaking at webinars, conferences, or customer advisory events.
