Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Quality In-Charge to manage quality control activities for our Alloy Steel Ingot Melting Unit. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring chemical composition, melting process, temperature, deoxidation, tapping, casting and final ingot quality as per grade and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Control quality from raw material/charge preparation to melting, tapping and ingot casting.
* Inspect and approve scrap, ferro alloys, additives and charge mix.
* Monitor chemical composition and ensure compliance with specified steel grades.
* Handle OES/Spectrometer testing, sampling and heat-wise chemical analysis.
* Control melting temperature, slag condition, deoxidation and alloy additions.
* Ensure proper tapping and ingot casting practices.
* Monitor ingot quality for cracks, blowholes, shrinkage, inclusions and surface defects.
* Maintain heat-wise quality records, traceability and inspection reports.
* Identify non-conformities, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA.
* Coordinate with Production, Melting, Stores and Maintenance teams to minimize rejection and rework.
* Improve chemistry hit rate, alloy recovery, steel cleanliness and first-time-right heats.
Preferred Candidate
Candidates with hands-on experience in Alloy Steel / Special Steel melting, quality control and ingot manufacturing will be preferred.
